Modern Farmhouse Lot Clearing
Thanks for joining us on our modern farmhouse lot clearing post! We have always built or remodeled as a side hobby. Jim draws the plans, and does the contracting. He’s a very good designer and builder. So that’s the reason we do it. He gets to play his instrument, if you will. We all contribute to design choices and all the many, many decisions that have to be made to build a house. There always are some tough periods along the way. It consumes nearly all of Jim’s time. We are very happy when it gets done, and we don’t have this looming over us. But, it is always nice to look back and see the final product and be proud of it. Its not always fun to build, but its always fun to have built.
Clearing the lot was the first thing that needed to be done. We could hardly walk on the lot to see how the house would lay out. It was covered in nasty Ligustrum trees. These weed trees had crowded out every growing thing on the lot.
Tree Tom was our lot clearing guy. He brought over a small backhoe and giant chipper, and a couple of helpers. We paid Tree Tom’s crew for their work by the day. This could not be done as a contract bid, since we made decisions on the work as we went along. We had to be there every minute to decide what would go and what would stay. Jim quickly pulled string around the building lines so that area could be completely cleared. Fortunately that area did not have a lot of big trees.
The lot is now open and beautiful. These were hot days and good times.
We are just diy remodelers, and only occasionally do a project. If you need somebody, and not just anybody, to help you find a home or get your home sold, we’d love to hear from you! We’re full time Realtors with over 30 years experience in Austin real estate.
