Barton Creek West Neighborhood – Westlake Area

Barton Creek West has always been one of our favorite neighborhoods to show in the Westlake area. There is something wonderful about turning into the neighborhood and enjoying expanses of hill country all around, and Austin’s big sky overhead. Since the day this neighborhood opened in mid 1980, we have never missed an opportunity to show Barton Creek West in the Eanes ISD.

Neighborhood

Barton Creek West is a little gem located in the highly desirable Westlake area of Austin. Beautiful greenbelt and big sky views come up as you drive down its gently sloping streets. People go out to walk and visit with neighbors. This is a quiet, close knit community of about 400 homes. Living here is informal, yet elegant. The masonry homes tend to be two story traditional styles in brick or Texas limestone.

Barton Creek Access

A very special feature of Barton Creek West is the abundance of greenbelt in the neighborhood. Long hiking trails wind down to beautiful, always flowing, Barton Creek. Residents can swim, fish, rope swing, and even ride the rapids. The trails are used for walking, biking, birding, and just enjoying nature. Barton Creek is an Austin treasure, and it flows through this neighborhood!

Community

Among the amenities in the neighborhood are two swim centers, a lighted tennis court, and a large playground with swings, slides, and playhouse. Residents actively build community by coordinating playgroups, book clubs, holiday parties, and a neighborhood newsletter. There are block parties and pot lucks. Neighbors get together. This neibhborhood is a very special community where residents live close to nature. They enjoy neighbors who are near at hand, sidewalks for walking, nature trails, and community pools and playgounds.

Eanes ISD Schools

One of the most attractive features of Barton Creek West the Eanes ISD school district. Neighborhood children attend Barton Creek Elementary, West Ridge Middle School and Westlake High School. West Ridge Middle School is located in Barton Creek West. Kids can walk or bike to school.

These schools have been highly rated for many years. Westlake High consistently ranks on Newsweek’s Top High Schools List.

Shopping & Dining

Residents have the fabulous Hill Country Galleria close at hand. This is a beautiful shopping hub with over 100 upscale shops and restaurants – from Dick’s Sporting Goods, to Dillards, Eddie Bauer, Chico’s, and many more.

Lowes and Home Depot are handy, along with Michaels, Home Goods, and other popular retailers. For groceries, Whole Foods Market is in the Galleria, and HEB is nearby also. Other large shopping centers make everyday life very convenient in Barton Creek West. Barton Creek Mall, Village of Westlake, and many retail centers offer an abundance of shopping and restaurants along Bee Cave Road.
